Course-Based Biomedical Masters Program - Need Research Experience?

Do you need research experience to be admitted into course-based non-thesis bioengineering masters programs such as Stanford's Masters of Bioengineering? Or can you get away with a strong GRE and a high GPA? Presumably, programs like Stanford's aren't geared towards those who want to enter academia, or become professors.

I've been working in life sciences venture capital using PubMed to read literature reviews and primary articles every day for the past two years, so I haven't done bench research in over 4 years. If it's possible to be admitted, I'm intending to take some upper level coursework for the references, in addition to references from my PhD holding supervisors at work. The motivation is to get some pedigree, and some concrete knowledge.

Thoughts? Any chance or no chance?

Thanks!
