Does anyone know what are the credit requirements for transferring into SFS? As in, can I have any generic group of classes or do I have to have specific course credits in order to be considered for acceptance? Thanks

You do not have to have any specific courses for your application to be considered.

Are you sure? I mean, for example, if I applied to the Business School at Georgetown wouldn't I need to have taken some intro business or economic courses? Or are you telling me I could have taken the most random courses, but as long as they transfer credit you will still be considered for admission. Like, as long as the courses I took are somewhat related to the ones in Georgetown's own course catalog, there won't be a problem.

Yes, I am sure. It is understood that many schools require their first- and even second-year students to take Gen. Ed. requirements or even a particular sequence of courses, some or many of which may have little to do with the student's intended major. Since transfer applicants to Georgetown apply directly to a major, it is certainly helpful to have evidence of interest in that field of study, and relevant coursework is one way to do so. However, given the requirements of other schools, it would be unfair to establish concrete and definite requirements to even be considered.

So, in short, while it can be helpful to have taken coursework in your intended major, it is by no means required, especially since most transfers apply during their freshman year and the admissions committees only have one semester's worth of grades and classes to look at. There's many schools where it is difficult if not impossible to take major-related classes classes your first (or even second) semester.

So that means I could apply to either the Business school or SFS at Georgetown if I had taken, say 1 History, 1 Anthropology, 1 Political Science, and 1 Language course for my first semester? Or any random generic course pairing like that?
