Hello Everyone,

I am planning to apply in UCSB TAG. At the end of Spring 2014, I will finish all the required equivalent courses listed in assist.org for my major. Unfortunately, only the courses equivalent of CH E 1A, CH E 10 and ENGR 3 are the courses I wont be able to take. My main issue is ENGR 3 since it is one of the main requirements for my major Chemical Engineering. I discussed this problem with the UCSB engineering department representative. She told me that I will not qualified for the TAG since I wont be able to take ENGR 3. I tried to find community colleges and even universities near my area that offers this course. Unfortunately, I couldn't find one.

I am kind of lost here. This problem is beyond my control. I believe that other UC advice that if the course is not offered by the institution, they still encourage the students to take this course from other institution IF POSSIBLE. However, it wont mean that without having this course automatically denies their chance for the TAG. This case also applies to normal admission. Based on the reply they sent me from UCSB, I will not qualify for the TAG at all (no exception) and sounds like I wont also be qualify in normal admission due to same reason and also due to other categories. With that, this means that all transfer students who have same case with me (lacked of major requirement due to course unavailability in their area) will not qualify for their TAG and, maybe, even normal admission.

Does anyone have same issue with me? I need some information and opinion. Please.

Thanks everyone.
