how tough is the course load at Dartmouth ? what would be the difference in course loads between math, econ and mathematics and social sciences ? which is the easiest among the 3 ? is the college very competitive or does it have a laid back atmosphere ? i keep hearing different things from different people.

The course load (3 courses per term) is intense, but not overwhelming. The best thing is to find a balance between your courses. In term of which would be the “easiest” of those three, that’s subjective. For me it would probably be social sciences, but I’m not a math person at all, so it depends on your strengths and passions. As far as the atmosphere here, it’s very laid back and cooperative. In fact, to even discuss a grade here is considered fairly taboo and someone who had the cut-throat braggart approach to academics would probably be socially shut-off here. I love the cooperative atmosphere, and I’ve never heard of a student refusing to help another in interest of their own grade. If you have any in-depth questions feel free to pm me.
