Course load too much?

Is taking 5 APs too much for sophomore year? (AP english language, AP spanish language, AP european history, AP physics (algebra based), AP environmental science). (I play basketball outside of school which takes up time as well. I’m taking my first AP this year (AP world history) and getting an A.) I am required to take AP english lang, spanish lang, and euro. I am thinking of substituting AP environmental science with dual enrollment ceramics to ensure I get good grades and don’t get overwhelmed with 5 APs, however I have heard AP environmental is easy. Should I take AP physics (no calculus) and AP environmental? Or should i just take physics honors and DE ceramics?
If you have taken these classes before please let me know what you thought about them and if they are hard to get an A in.

As a sophomore, I think your courseload may be a tad too much… AP environmental is easy, I suppose, but even with one “easy” AP, you’re still taking four “difficult” AP courses, which is still a lot, regardless of their difficulty. I don’t know how it can be REQUIRED of you to take any AP courses, but… do what you want to do. I would say follow your heart, don’t take things just because they’re AP. With any AP class, the workload is heavier than an average class, so keep that in mind. If you doubt that you can maintain or improve your current GPA, then maybe remove one or two of the AP courses.

Whatever you choose, good luck, and stay focused. Don’t forget to have fun and enjoy yourself though: lots of people here on CC seem to forget that bit.

I haven’t take AP Spanish, but a lot of people say it’s more rigorous than those lousy “Honors Spanish” classes we take. There’s a lot more work and I haven’t looked at pass rates recently, but the AP Exam isn’t really a gimme like Econ, Psych, or a class you would normally fly through. Everything else looks doable! There’s always a possibility of saving AP Physics for your junior or senior year, too. I 'm assuming you’re taking Pre-Calc or Calc next year…

Make sure that "Ceramics"at the college is in the Arts department - otherwise it’s an extremely difficult, calculus-based engineering class…
I wouldn’t take both AP Euro and AP English as a sophomore, but either one. Same thing for AP Physics and APES. No need to double up in science as a sophomore.
