Course Load

I made one of these things back in January, but a couple things have changed.

I'm wondering if this schedule is good enough if I am wanting to attend a top school.

English I
Intro to Biology
Concert Band
French II
Spanish I
Foundations of Civilization
Geometry

English II
Chemistry Honors
Hot Spots: Global Crises/Wellness
French III
Spanish III
AP Modern European History
Algebra II Accelerated

AP English Language
Physics Honors
Concert Band
AP French Language
AP Spanish Language
AP American History
Analysis Accelerated

Senior Seminar: Race & Gender in Contemporary Life and Literature/English IV: Crime Fiction
Advanced Biology: Cellular and Molecular Biology
Chinese Studies I/Intro to Psychology
AP French Literature
AP Macroeconomics/Introduction to Political Philosophy
Russian/Middle Eastern Studies
AP Calculus AB

Could you guys tell me what I should change about it, if anything? I will also be participating in this youth ensemble at the University of Michigan and plan on taking Chinese online or self studying it. Should I keep band all for years during school or not?

Thanks.

Do band if you like it. And if you can get into county/state honor bands and the like, that's all the better. :)

Well, I'm going to a prep school next year so I'm not sure how much I will like it. I'm just asking, regardless of whether I like it or not, should I eliminate it to take more elective classes? I'm considering replacing band with Chinese in 10th grade+, or just taking more social studies electives.

Thanks.

Hmm. If you'll have that extra ensemble at U of M anyway, having four years of band at school isn't very important. If you're aiming for county/state, I think you may have to be a member of the school band, though. You do seem to have a pretty big interest in foreign languages, so if band is only "OK" next year, then I'd go for the Chinese.

As for the rest of your schedule, it looks good to me. No AP Science anywhere, but since you're going to a prep school, "Advanced Bio" is probably pretty interesting/'rigorous' anyway.

There's AP Chemistry and AP Physics C, and I think I might take AP Chem senior year instead of Advanced Bio, but again, I'm not sure because I don't know which one I will enjoy more.

Bump .
