How tough is 19 credits at UMCP? It's the maximum you can take without permission... so is it not that bad?

I think the max is seventeen actually.
(It might vary by college)

And if not that bad means you probably won’t die…then it’s not that bad.

It’s 19, I checked: [University of Maryland - Office of the Dean for Undergraduate Studies](http://www.advising.umd.edu/advisingfaqs.html#4)
But seriously, do people do it regularly?

All credits are not the same. For example I’m taking 18, but I’m a piano major. For me 18 credits will be MUCH better than my last year in high school (6 APs, many ECs AND private music/piano lessons). However, if you were taking 18 credits of nothing but high level math/physics/chem/eng/etc. … it could kill ya …

BTW, the limit without permission is 20 in my college. It may differ in others …

Haha - yes, I’m going to be taking high level math, comp sci, and business (finance)
=}

However, 6 AP’s is not much at all for me. Does that mean I should be more or less ok?

^ If you managed 6 APs (and I don’t mean stuff like human geo/envion/psych/etc.) and got straight As, you should do fine :slight_smile:

Best of luck whatever and wherever you decide to do …

I diodn’t manage straight A’s, but that wasn’t difficulty so much as high school laziness -.-

I’ve become a tad bit more mature these days though :P

It’s 17 in ARHU and 18 in Chem and life sciences. Those are the only one’s I’ve checked in.

Well, the link for general UMD says 19 :(

Besides, I’ll be in Smith. I’m pretty sure it’s higher there.

Like others have said it depends on the courses. I’m taking 15 credits right now. If I signed up for say, Army ROTC then I’d be doing 18 credits. Yet it wouldn’t be too hard (well, physically yes, but otherwise the basic intro course for ROTC isn’t that tough). Now if I replaced that with, say, another science course then it’d be getting tougher.
