course must be taken at....

Hello~
I have 2 questions:)
If I look at assist.org and search for the majors and stuff...
It says "course must be taken at _____" under some of the majors.
or something like.."no comparable courses available"....
does it mean that i have to take that course after I transfer?

Also...It seemed like UCI has more requirements/prereq? for certain majors than UCLA.....so if I only complete the course for UCLA prereq(less courses than UCI)...then i won't be able to transfer into UCI? It may be weird questions...but plz help me out!!xD

Thank you and have a nice day~:D

You are exactly correct. You MUST complete the major pre-reqs for every school you plan to attend.

eh… i don’t think predicthisflick was completely clear (or completely right depending on how predict is to be interpreted)

You don’t absolutely have to complete the major prereqs before you transfer. But different majors are probably more lenient on that than others. For example, i am applying to Berkeley in philosophy and my cc offers none of the prereqs. Apparently this is common (at least for philosophy), and berkeley is willing to cut people slack.

The more impacted majors, like business, i would imagine to be less lenient.

It’s not necessarily the case that UCI will not accept you. But if you don’t complete their prereqs, and they see that they were available at your college, it will certainly count as a mark against you, and potentially a fatal mark against you depending on your major.

absurdmike is right. Completion if pre reqs isn’t required but highly recommended. Some majors are so empty that they’ll take anyone at any UC, and some are so impacted that if you don’t have pre reqs done you don’t stand a chance. UCLA and UCB usually want pre reqs done. UCSD is lenient. UCI has so many unnecessary pre reqs in many majors that it’s almost impossible to get them done.

ohhh okay thank you everyone:)

USMC0311: I kinda agree with you about UCI having so many pre reqs…i was like “omg…i have to take all of these courses?” lol)
