course petition problem

I've applied to UCSD for winter 2010 with the TAG.

I was getting a bit paranoid, so I was going through my submitted application and noticed a huge fat mistake on my part.

In Winter 2007, I took a introductory chemistry class (5 Units) and failed it.

Then I retook it at another college, and passed it.

But this is the problem... the college that I retook and passed the class considers the chem class to be only 4 units.

Both classes lead to General Chem class for majors.

I've tried calling both community colleges, but they weren't sure and told me i should speak with an admissions officer at SD..

The admissions office at SD is not open till 10... (It's 9 right now) So I will call as soon as its 10.

Has anyone else been in the same situation??

i kinda have a similar situation going on. i got a D in a class at a CSU i was attending before i had to move home go to a CCC. i contacted that CSU and they said i could repeat the class at a CCC as long as i had the repeat petition filled out. so i filled out the form, got them to sign off on it, and then retook the class at my college over the summer. i then had my transcripts sent to the CSU so they could update the grade, since they said they would. after about a month of nothing happening, i began contacting them several times. finally they said that they would be updating in a day or too. later that evening i got an email saying that they won’t update my grade from a D to an A unless im a current student/still enrolled…which most likely wont be happening since im trying to transfer to a UC for next fall.

i think in the end it doesn’t effect my gpa too much since i already have a lot of units, but im not sure if they’ll count the repeated class in my gpa or not. (what i mean by this is does the D and the A go into calculating my gpa or do they just ignore the class i got an A in since it’s the equivalent course). im meeting with a counselor next week to hopefully figure that out.

i just spoke with an admissions officer

She told me it wouldn’t matter how many units, as long as the courses are the same.

WOO HOO
