Course Question

So I signed up for this course called "Medical Spanish," and it turns out the course is far from the easy course I imagined it to be. After approximately three weeks I have a B- or so, which would significantly decrease my GPA of 3.81. I have the option, as of now, of either dropping the course for a total of 13 credits (instead of 16) or making it P/F which means that med school admissions officers would see either that I pass or failed the course. The deadlines are approaching. Any suggestions? Does taking something P/F reflect poorly on the student, especially with a course that is medically-related?

Thanks

Please explain how this is will "significantly decrease" your GPA...

Do the math and you'll realize that a single course - and a 3 hour one at that - doesn't screw up your GPA, especially when you get to the end of your collegiate career and have 120+ Credit hours.

3 weeks and ready to throw in the towel. Is this what the premed culture has come to?

Ok I guess I should just ask the latter question then:

Does taking a course pass/fail (non premed-major course obviously) reflect poorly on you?

No I'm not ready to quit the course just because I'm doing poorly now - I guess I'm just asking if I continue to do poorly what I should do. Sorry I'm really not some neurotic premed I swear haha.

What's wrong with being a neurotic premed?

hafred, P/F it. It's not a pre-req for med school, so they will not frown that it was taken P/F, but the grade you're looking at will lower your GPA-- not a good thing for that future AMCAS application. A transcript littered w/ P/F courses is suspect, but one "P" in Med Spanish won't raise any eyebrows.

Neurosis is bad.
