Any course recommendations for freshman year as an English major? I'm still deciding if I want to pursue pre-med though...I don't know if that means I can really have a concentrated English schedule. Anyways, what would you take if you're an English major? I talked to one of the guidance counselors when I visited, and she said that I can just take one of the level 200 writing seminars. According to her, there's no way to "place" into that class...you just sign up.

English majors with 5's on ap lang or lit can place into the art of fiction, poetry, or drama. THat's what I intend to do.

Are you majoring in English?

most likely

very cool.

Oh by the way, just a correction and further clarification: the names of the courses I mentioned are actually The Reading of Fiction (ENG 270), The Reading of Poetry (ENG 271), and Introduction to Drama (ENG 272). These, as you mentioned, are 200-level English courses open to all freshmen, and recommended to those pursuing a major in English. However, they are only open to all freshmen in the spring. In the fall, enrollment is limited to students with a 700+ on the SAT II in Literature or a 5 on either of the AP English exams.
