Course Restrictions?????

I want to sign up for College Writing R1A in next Monday's CalSo, but the section has a course restriction.

I've emailed the professor about this today, but I don't have a response, yet. I have CalSo next Monday, so I really need to know if I can sign up for this section still.

The Scedule of Classes states:

"enrollment information:

7 student(s) are enrolled, with a limit of 14 and 4 student(s) are on the waiting list, with a limit of 14.

This Waiting List will be processed automatically each weekend during Tele-BEARS Phases I and II and nightly during the Adjustment Period.

course restrictions:

Restricted to Students with a special program code of S

Seats have been reserved for:

Instructor Approval; a Class Entry Code is required to enroll in these seats. (Open)
Open seating (Full) "

Any opinions???

Unless you have the CEC, you have to waitlist. Ask your calso counselor for more info when you’re registering.

What’s CEC?

class entry code

I emailed the professor about the CEC today.

The instructor is Professor Michael Larkin. Is Professor Larkin available, during the summer, to get this code?

If I don’t get this class, I’ll have to rush to make my way from Dwinelle to McCone for Earth Science.

Are professors available to give the CEC?

dwinelle to mccone is manageable. there’s a pretty steep uphill for a short bit though.

i think profs should be able to give CECs, but usually major departments give them out.

do you fulfill the requirement for this course stated on the schedule? if you do, you should be ablet o take the class.

Could I call the writing program’s office to get the CEC?

My major is undecided in the college of letters and science.

The requirement was taking the AWPE.
I took the exam and failed it, as outlined by the course note. Because I failed the exam, I am eligible for this course.

Is Dwinelle to McCone manageable in terms of Berkeley time?

I took the AWPE on may 10 and still have not recieved my score in the mail. Do you think I should call them? Will they tell me if I pass over the phone?

Viromonkey, I called them (UC AWPE) to find out when I would get my score.

The person told me (at that time) in a few weeks, but he ended up asking me for the number I had for the AWPE.

Once he got this number, he told me that I failed.

Just call them and have that UC AWPE number they gave you.

thanx alot I will do that. It hate scouring the mailbox everyday for nothing. Now if only I could find that paper with my number :)

Sorry for asking a tangentially related question,

Is the marking for AWPE comparable to the marking used for grading the essays in the SATS Reasoning tests?

I.e. if you get 10 points (out of 12) in the SATS essay, can you also expect to get 10 points in AWPE?
