Course rigor?

Hi,

I was wondering if my Junior and Senior year classes are "enough" for one of the top colleges.

Junior year:

Ap bio
AP english language
AP Calculus AB
Us history
Physics
Physics lab
Math Analysis (A course designed to help Math Team students)
Spanish 3
Gym

Senior year:

AP Economics
Math Analysis (4th year in a row. Every year we take on more difficult problems)
Gothic literature
Multivariable Calculus (Advanced Calculus)
Genetics
Anatomy (How are Genetics and Anatomy looked at from a College Admissions person's point of view? They are part of a program in my high school that i am forced to take)
Gym

How do my classes look? Should i try getting one more ap? I know i dont have 14 aps like a lot of the CC'ers, but are my courses too easy? In my school, it is only possible to take 3 aps as a senior, even though they offer a lot more. Genetics and Anatomy are a must for the program i am in. Is there anywhere to mention that on the college application or do the college admissions people already know that about my high school?

Also, my gpa is a 4.0 right now and i think it will probably be a 4.0 next year (i am currently a junior)

I think your GC will mention that in the school profile she sends. However, if you want to make sure that the colleges know, tell him/her specifically to mention it in the recommendation letter.

I think you will be fine and the fact that you’re taking multivariable calc as a senior impresses me (our school doesn’t even offer it, and I have heard that it is difficult even at the college level - haven’t taken it so can’t comment on its difficulty). Don’t let CC stats freak you out…everyone’s school is differnet. :)

The rigor of your schedule is relative to what your school offers, not what other applicants take. There will be 2 places where adcoms will see how hard your coursework was, in your school profile which lists which classes are offered and gives other information about your school, and from your GC. Your GC marks whether you took the ‘most’ rigorous course work, a rigorous schedule, etc. Also, the GC can comment on the fact that certain courses are required.
