Course Schedule for Pharmacy students

I got my course schedule on August 20, and I was put in all the expected classes for the pharmacy program's first semester. The school mailed a form for getting out of a course or two (I chose biology) because of AP credits, and I filled it out and sent it back. This was done after getting the schedule.

How long is it going to take for the school to take general biology out of my schedule? I figure I would just be placed into general psychology, without me getting a say, and that's fine. I just would like to see a final course schedule, since I want to buy my books and I don't know if getting out of one class and being placed into another will affect the overall order and placement of my classes.

Is there something I need to fill out? Should I call? Am I just being too impatient?

Wait until the add/drop period starts and you can drop gen bio yourself and add gen psych. All the gen psych sections are still open, so you should definitely be able to find a section that fits your schedule. Add/drop starts on September 5th. Before you drop gen bio though, make sure your AP credit shows up on your transcript. If it doesn’t, then you should definitely call. Bottom line, give it another week before you start calling. Rutgers takes a while to process all of this.

To see what credits you currently have, you can check degree navigator or view your unofficial transcript somewhere on MyRutgers.

For other people in future years who freak out at everything, like me, the program sent an email yesterday (about a week from their final deadline for the AP credits) and they edited my schedule to have General Psychology. They chose the course and didn’t move any classes around, though now my classes are awkwardly timed.

Thank you Rhetorical13!

Is General Psych a course required for pharmacy? I’m planning (fingers-crossed) to transfer in from SAS after 2 years.

I’m pretty sure General Psychology is a required elective.

It just says “Psychology/Sociology Elective”.
I plan on taking Psychology of Language. It’s a psych class, but it’s prerequisite in Intro to Linguistic Theory.
I think that’ll satisfy the requirement. Hopefully.
