Course scheduling advice needed

I want to add economics to my first semester classes, so I have to drop one of my already registered for classes. (I'm doing because I want to apply to be an IR major next year and need to take this course and another course which I'll do next semester if I'm still interested in IR.) So, my question is should I drop my science course or my spanish course?

At my school, like most schools, there's a bunch of required courses, science and language are two of them. I'm taking Science II before Science I, because I was closed out of Science I. I'm thinking of dropping Spanish because I want to switch my language to mandarin, i feel it would be more useful if i was an IR major or if i did something else, except for maybe medicine, law and a few other things.

Or... should i just call my school and see if i can speak to my academic advisor?

Taking courses out of sequence could be difficult, but I am not sure since it varies with colleges. Since you want to switch languages, then just switch languages and drop science.
