course selection : Calculus AB or BC

I am assigned to BC this year. However, my GPA is low and I have to improve it during Junior year.
Which is better, A in Calculus AB or B in Calculus BC?
Both are AP courses.

Take AB junior year, get an A. Take BC senior year :o

The A in AB would be better.

go for calc ab since it’s still an ap course; you’ll get the better grade and you’ll still be seen as challenging yourself.

If you are in calculus junior year, you are probably one of the top students in math who can easily get an A in BC. AB may be boringly slow for you.

Thanks for your comments. Though I may be good, I don’t enjoy math much. I am sure I will get B on CalBC, since all classmates are really good.
I am trying to convince my GC that I need to take AB instead. I am taking 4 other APs.
The major problem is that my GPA is low, average B.

Based on your post above I would go with AB.

However, I guess it’s your decision in the end… you might have no problem with skipping to BC. Some schools have students automatically skip to BC, but in our school, all the higher-math kids take AB first (usually in junior year) and then BC. My brother and my friends I know who are GREAT at math took AB first too.

You probably know that BC is just like all the AB topics and then just extended with some new material.
