Hello, I am currently choosing courses for the senior year in high school. I now have a choice to make, which is between taking AP Chemistry or AP French. I can only take one of the two. As someone who wishes to major in physics, I know, or at least am under the impression, that Chemistry will be more relevant. However, I also know that most schools recommend having four years of a foreign language. So, my question is, which course will be more beneficial for me to take?
Thank you for your time.

Take AP Chem. While four years are recommended, they aren’t required. I think colleges would rather see you take AP Chem, a science that is relevant to your major and interests than a class that you’re only taking to look better for college.

Okay, thank you very much.

You may also want to check what graduation requirement for foreign language and chemistry there may be for your major at the various colleges, and where the AP score would place you there.

As far as I know, unless you have already taken 3 years of french, one AP french class isnt going to do much, I’d take the AP chem becuase it’ll help you more in the long run (for your degree that is).
