Course selection help

hi everybody;

i need a little help. in my school, incoming freshman have the option of taking either Calc I or Intro to Math Analysis. One of my best friends attends the university as well, and she told me not to take Calc b/c its extremely difficult, and to take the Math Analysis class. However, isn't taking a year of Calc a requirement for most med schools? I have no idea what to do, so any advice you guys can give me would be great. thanks

Tell me about this Math Analysis class. Is it higher level than calc, as the term "Analysis" is often meant? Or is it lower or not related to calc?

Higher levels are always okay; unrelated classes probably will not substitute. Again, remember that many med schools don't require math at all, but some do.

it's actually less advanced than calc, and it covers trig, algebra II, and some of pre-calc.

Yeah, you need to take calc for the med schools in question. Or one semester of calc and one of stats, which you should really take anyway.

With that said, if you ALSO want to take math analysis for an A on your BCPM, that's not the worst idea in the world - but it does slow you down, and frankly it's wimpy.

Sometimes a calc course may be hard but its curved nicely to get you the good grades.
