Simply put: Can i take an introductory engineering elective as an HSS student (freshman year)? And if so, do i need special permission, or can i sign up just as easily as a CIT student?

I'd say yes but it depends on your registration date and how much demand there is for it. Probably 90% yes because my roommate got into some engineering class fall semester without even a waitlist.

Some classes have reservations for people of specific class levels and colleges; e.g. Intro to ECE has a lot of reservations for ECE majors, and it's kinda hard to get into without being in at least CIT. Random elective-type classes are fairly easy to get into for anyone, unless they're really popular. I've only ever had trouble getting into Interp & Arg, the basic English class all CS majors have to take, but that's because I've never had particularly good registration times and that class fills up fast because a lot of people have to take it.

when are we gonna pick classses, at orientation?

How is your registration time chosen? Do ED students get priority for course registration? Is it random?

Randomly; based on the last 2 digits of your SSN.

No, ED students get no priority.

The last two digits? Does that mean if my last two digits are a very high number im one of the last in line? Or do they use a random table or something and you're identified by your last two digits?
