course selection - too many history classes?

hi,

this is my first post ever on collegeconfidential. i came here because i need help concerning a course selection that could potentially be difficult, but would pay off in the long run for my senior year and in college. right now, i'm a sophomore. to put it simply, global (history) classes are my HUGE strength. i go to a very elite high school in NYC, and i am one of the top 3 (maybe even top) global student in my school. i do mock trial, newspaper, and fed challenge on the side as well. my big question here is my courses for next year. the way my school works, we get English IV, Math 11 Extended Honors (precalc--i am in the extended honors class, the highest type of regular math) and US history as required classes in 11th grade. we can choose to take physics (regents prep--but still honors, i'll explain why in a minute) in 11th or 12th grade. if i consider physics as an elective, we can basically take 2 electives in junior year. so it will basically be english/math/USH/2 electives/gym. so--my two electives. i'm interested in taking International Relations and AP Micro/Macro econ next year. i know it sounds like a lot, and it probably will be. the top global students at my school have tended to take IR in junior year, but i have never heard of anyone taking IR and Econ in junior year. my concern is that the while Econ is very easy, the major hard part about the class is a whopper 15 to 20 page paper mid-year, which may run up against IR's term paper, which is not as long but nonetheless substantial. the IR readings are also very long, apparently minimum of 15 pages a night, but im very good at IR so those alone won't be too hard. however, i'll also have 5 page econ and USH readings every night...i guess my question is--will i drown in the reading and term papers mid-year, or do you guys think that as a good history student i would make it through alright? if any of you know anyone who did something like this, please tell me about their experience. thanks so much
