I'm not sure when to begin the course selection process for faculty of science since I haven't received my ap scores for my senior year yet, and advisers are supposed to be available only end of august yes?

Let's assume I get 4+ for all my aps, which is most likely. For Jnr year, I had ap chem, psych, us history, environmental, and English language and comp. For senior year I have physics B, Calc AB, bio, US government, and Macroeconomics. 10 aps total.

I compared this to their course exemptions and it totals way above the maximum 30 credits. Does this mean I automatically must be entered into the U1 program? This means I skip the U0 freshman program right? So do I have to play with the credit numbers and stuff so they fit 30? Say for example I would like to take physics again at McGill, I tell them not to take my ap credits for Physics B and instead take the Bio credits which is a course I don't want to take again?

If anyone can guide me on this would totally appreciate.

You don’t get that choice. If you passed the AP course with a sufficient grade, they will credit you with the corresponding exemption. If that means you would end up with more than 30 credits at the end, you are only credited with 30 on the transcript.

I assume you’ve seen this page already, but in case you havent:

right, so are all those courses exempt then? I just won’t get credit for all of them?

thanks a lot

No, you get credits for all those equivalent courses. You cannot take the courses you get credits for again, and there is no way to tell them not to give that credits to you so that you can take any of the courses again. I believe they get really upset if they find out that you try to hide any AP scores from them, possible disciplinary action against you.

As I understand it, U0 or U1 designation is not a big deal except for the requirement to declare a major if you are in U1. You need certain amount of credits to graduate and there are minimum number of credits you need to take each semester. You can try to take lighter load closed to minimum if you worry about the difficulties of skipping all those courses and might have hard time with more advanced courses.
