Im an incoming freshman for Fall 2008 in College of eng..and am really confused about what courses to take in the first semester. I also plan to later apply to Ross School of Business. Can someone please guide me on my course selection. Thanks

Econ 101, English 125, Calc 1 or higher - pre requisities

Other than that I would reccomend

Econ 102, Stats 350, Eng 225, UC 245, some other class which fulfill your credit requirements( SS, NS, HU, language etc) so you have a well balanced scheduled. Message me if you need any details on the classes.

Since you are CoE you will have to take ENGR 100 and 101.

What kind of AP credits will you have? If nothing I would recommend the following:

Calc I, II (4 + 4)
Econ 101 (4)
Engin 100, 101 (4 + 4)
Chem 125/126/130 (5)
Physics 140/141 (5)

That gives you 30 credits. To graduate from CoE, you need 128, so you would probably have to add another class in there. Engin 110 (2 credit intro to different types of engineering) or Econ 102 (4 credit) would be my recommendations.

Make sure you get as many of the pre-reqs as possible done freshman year. If the business school doesn't work out, you'll want to make sure you have everything done so you can start taking classes in your engineering major sophomore year.

You will NOT take English 125. Engin 100 will substitute for that. Eng 225 appears to be "Argumentative Writing." I'd recommend you take an engineering pre-req course instead of that. I'd also recommend skipping Stats 350...I believe some of the engineering majors have their own stats classes and 350 will not work as a sub (this could very well be wrong though). I would highly recommend taking Econ 102 though.

Thanks a lot. As far as my AP credits are concerned, I have completed A Level courses of Biology, Physics,Mathsand chemistry and am waiting for their results to come in August. Can anyone please tell me whether its possible to obtain a dual degree from Ross School of Business and CoE in 4 yrs.

I'd bet that is still a 5 year trip. Business school is 3 years no matter what, and I'm guessing that with how many classes you would still need to take in the engineering school, it just wouldn't happen in 4 years.

Thanks. What about a dual degree from LSA and CoE?Does that take 5yrs as well!!!
