Course Selection

i have a couple questions regarding my schedule next year...im currently as a sophmore in french 3 so therefore i only have 2 years in french but a third year level, truth is, im not great at french, it my worst subject and i really dont want to continue it. Would colleges frown upon stopping now? mind you, ill be taking lots of tough classes all honors and AP so i dont want a course thatll require more attention from me as it is not strong to bring down focus in other courses. Should i continue the sequence or drop it but maintain a strong schedule?
If it matters my fields in college i wish to study are chem/bio/crim jus/engineering, no type of liberal language fields

My feel is that colleges “prefer” you to keep up with the languages, but if you are not going into a related field, I don’t think they would really care. If you feel that it would bring down your GPA and you really don’t enjoy the class, dropping is probably just fine.

You know yourself best, to be honest. If you dislike French, you can replace it with a class that is just as demanding-but one you will enjoy more. The more you like a subject, the better chances that you will do well. :)

btw while im on topic the science progression in our school is bio>chem>phys however i took chem this year and want to take AP chem next year and AP bio senior year, is it smarter to take physics H or to do AP

You should keep in mind that many colleges require/strongly recommend between 2 and 4 years of language to even be considered. Even if you’re not interested in liberal arts, these colleges want to see some languages.

Honestly, I’d stick with it for 1 more year. That should give you enough to satisfy most language requirements.

3 years of language are almost required to get into most top colleges.

do the 3rd year and then drop it. it will lead to more open doors come senior year.
