I am attending USNA c.o 09 and I was wondering if, by doing well on my AP exams (4,5), if I can validate AP Amer. History, AP Physics, AP Calc, and AP Micro and Macro Economics?

From everything I have read, your score on your AP exams mean nothing to the academy (other than for your admissions packet). You take tests once there to validate out of courses. Logic would follow that if you were to do well on your AP exams and in your classes, that you should be able to do well on the validation exams. Hope that helps.

thats what i was told too but WRONG!! i capitalize it because it is a common mistake made... i took 11 ap courses in my high school career but did not take the test because i knew i would come here and thought they did not matter... some dont while some definitely do... i think a 5 on the AP calc (bc) will get you out of calcs 1 and 2, while a 5/5 on the two physics ones wont get you out of any physics... english can be validated and i think chem can as well... history/government are also able to be validated through ap exams... im sure it changes from year to year but TAKE THEM... this is the single best piece of advice i can give. i had to take validation exams in the midst of plebe summer fatigue and definitely would have validated more had i taken ap tests. recap: take 'em all.

for those that can be validated through ap scores, does the academy only accept 5's or can you get a 4 on some of them?

Thanks, aMID08! I have a question too! :) If you took college classes (either post high school) or while in High School, can any of that credit transfer, or do you just have to take the test. My DD took a few classes in high school at Creighton and it would be great if they could somehow "count". Appreciate the clarification. I think I will stick to asking instead of answering questions. LOL

That is everything you need. Good luck on Lit tomarrow if your taking it. I am.

gopher thanks for the link it helped a lot - how did the AP test go? I took it last year as a junior-

i thought lit wasnt that bad, the short story was a little weird. something about a birthday party but i didnt really catch the symbolism if there was any. hope it went well for you with your aps.

haha yeah Birthday Party was interesting.... One of my friends said the pink candle symbolized their fading passion for each other which was once a firey red. I mostly talked about detail and diction. I dont think I got a 5 though so it looks like plebe english for me!

Does anyone know when validation exams were last year? Realistically I don't see how we can study for these exams and do well espically if they are anything like AP or Final exams.

first level validation exams are early on (calc1, chem1) while the next levels in each are spread throughout later dates in the summer.
