I can't seem to access the site! it's a looping problem and i absolutely can't solve it, even with the instructions on the page... could anyone copy and paste what there is written about SLE, the literature of crisis, journeys, freedom/equality/differenence, representing nature, and conflict/cooperation/human nature!

I know its a lot but anything will help! I'm having the hardest time ever choosing courses...

also, why is SLE considered a 'geeky' option? Does it prevent you from joining activities because of weird timings or something?

about SLE from the website:

If you are not afraid of intensive reading, extensive constructive criticism, and in-depth analysis of anything and everything, SLE is for you
The good thing about SLE is that, in general, everyone in it wants to be in it. No one is forcing them to take it, which makes the environment that much better than that of other area 1's. You will thus end up getting a lot more out of SLE than out of any other area 1
A wonderful course, belying all the rumors circulating about it. It is a lot of work (reading, writing, stress) but it is also incredibly rewarding
A much more rewarding experience than any other area 1
Stereotypes attached to SLE are mostly false. It is intense, but it is also very rewarding, and is worth 4 more units than other Area 1s. It is worth taking if you think you will like the material
This class will give you a solid classics background, in addition to being a very bonding experience
SLE is challenging but accordingly worthwhile. The lecturers are almost universally worthwhile and the discussions are fascinating
A great opportunity for individual attention at a large and rather impersonal university like Stanford
You will inevitably learn to write and think critically
A ton of work but extremely rewarding. Not for people unprepared for huge amounts of reading.
SLE can be a great experience, or a terrible one, the social dynamic of your section being the dominant factor. A good section will make SLE one of the best experiences of your life. A poor section will make you dread the class. The reading list is awesome.
An incredible, jam-packed course. The curriculum is unbeatable if you want to read the best books of all time. Many guest lecturers keep the class interesting. We do have fun. Don't be intimidated. Take it.
Take this course!!! No matter what you intend to study, it may be the most worthwhile thing you take/study at Stanford. A very solid base for the rest of your education and life.
Best thing I've done at Stanford, academically and socially.
