Courseload for engineering

hows the courseload for engineer undergrads?

The course load is actually pretty insane at least on paper. Click on the link, then look for the "flow chart" or "curriculum" in one of the majors.

I am a materials engineering student, 3rd year. Basicly, if you average 4 classes a quarter 16 units you can graduate in 4 yrs. Likewise if you average 12 units but take summer school it is also manageable (hopefully you have taken at least AP Calc, because if you haven't gl taking the math classes at Cal Poly, because the quarter system is brutal and you need a strong math foundation). I am an engineering major and I have done 20 units in a quarter (it was brutal: do not attempt this, I am warning you). I recommend as an engineer to mix your classes up (ie take one math + one science chem or phys + one engineering + one GE) that way you get variety. Always make sure to have at least one GE or even substitute in another GE, they pad the GPA, are interesting, and do not consume that much time.
