Just wondering - if you get the official certificate from Coursera that you completed a course (like Intro to Finance, 15 weeks, from the University of Michigan), to what degree will colleges recognize that when looking at an application? And how exactly do I include that in an application (I’m not very familiar with the format). The reason I’m a little unsure about this is because it’s not very expensive to get certified, whereas some online courses that you sign up from the college itself are over a thousand dollars - so I’m not really sure about how universities will consider Coursera courses.
If this isn’t really the right thread to post this on, I can always post it somewhere else.
For both of the ones I looked at, certification is only around $50 per each.
@Swag87 even if you get the certification, does it hold any merit to colleges? Of course the most important factor is actually wanting to learn the topic but I’m not sure if I want to invest so much time into a course (which could take time away that I could use for academics) and ultimately not have any impact on a resume.

Thanks, just wondering.
