Courses for EE/requirements?

I was looking at the EE handbook of programs, and found that the ABET requirements for EE in general are 45(Math& Science), 68(Engineering topics), 8(Experimentation). How does this translate to time needed to complete the EE degree? Is a unit one hour per week in class?

I counted 21 courses in the Electrical Engineering general program sheet + 3 courses from the Area 2 GER, then 24/8= 3 courses per term/semester. Is this the minimum needed to graduate or am I off?

Most EE classes are 3 or 4 units, which translates into three 50-minute lectures or two 1:15 lectures per week, plus a lab section if necessary. Everyone at Stanford needs 180 units to graduate, so that means you take an average of 15 units per quarter, which is 4 to 5 classes.

ah ok thanks

oh ok, so in one year Stanford people can normally take 3/2 as many classes as MIT people since MIT only has 2 terms a year?

Right, I feel that's one advantage of the quarter system.
