On one of my applications it asks if "honors" courses and "advanced placement" courses are offered at my high school. We have honors type courses, but they are called advanced studies. We also don't have advanced placement, but IB courses. So should I check any one of them? I think I should check honors but with advanced placement I'm not sure if they really mean AP or just courses that are advanced

I bet they specifically mean AP classes... that's a pretty standard distinction of classes in the US

advanced placement means AP only

honors courses are anything not designated AP or IB but still weighted on the transcript

dont check AP but tell them somewhere that your school is an IB school

Your guidance counselor will be sending a profile....about your school and your class. This distinction may show up in your guidance counselor forms. You might inquire of your counselor how to do this part.

the honors classes at my school are called the "center for advanced studies" and the course name has then CAS instead of honors after it. on my application, should i just say honors since CAS is just school specific?

Have many students applied from your HS in previous years? I would put the accurate term CAS and spell it out somewhere at least once.
