I was accepted into CAS, under the Premed Program.

What is the average # of courses an undergraduate takes every semester? What is the greatest amount of courses, allowed for a student to take for one semester? Is it advised or discouraged? (I'm trying to figure out the # of courses I can take--if I can fit in all the extra courses I want to take, such as psychology and sociology courses)

Are the courses in CAS, easier than expected? Like the Biology, Chemistry and Physics courses?

And, what are the exact courses for completing the Premed Program?

Thank you.

As far as I know, you’re restricted to 19 credits unless you petition for more. This means that if you’re taking 3-credit classes only, you can take 6 classes. I’ve been taking five per semester so far, if it helps. My friends typically take between 4 to 7 or 8 classes. (The latter happens with music, where you have ensembles, lessons, etc, which don’t have credit counts or some other deal.)

Don’t know the answers to the other questions though, sorry.

Do you find 5 per semester, to be somewhat overwhelming?

I’ll probably only take 4 per semester for the first year.

When do we start scheduling classes? Somewhere, it said the week before classes start?

FWIW: I’m a freshman in LC Smith. I found five classes to be quite fun, actually. I had my “engineering core”, which was the usual… then I took a geography class, which was a nice spin. Work was a little much at times since I ended up with two writing classes, but besides that I felt like it was a good load.

But yes, as House of London said, it does vary based on your courses.
