In my opinion, to get into med-school, you need to take Biology, Chemistry, and Physics. Although some schools only require Biology and Chemistry, just think about it, colleges will love it if you take all three of them. Also, consider taking Honors or AP Science classes - if it is offered at your school.
This is my science sequence:
9th- Honors Biology
10th- Honors Chemistry and AP Physics
11th- AP Biology DP - single period not offered at my school
12th- AP Chemistry DP - same case
Also I am taking AP Statistics for a better chance to get into a college and med school
Feel free to post any recommendations or/and your schedules.
I want to go to Med school too, and there’s 2 things I might do, although I’m not sure which one (I’m in 9th now, and my 10th grade classes are already chosen btw)…
Option A:
9th- Honors Biology and Honors Chemistry (FLVS)
10th- AP Environmental Science (FLVS)
11th- AP Physics 1
12th- AP Physics 2 and AP Biology (FLVS)
Option B:
9th- Honors Biology and Honors Chemistry (FLVS)
10th- AP Environmental Science (FLVS)
11th- AP Biology
12th- AP Physics 1 and AP Chemistry
Which one do you guys think sounds like the best option? I really want to take AP Biology because I plan to major in biology before med school, but at the same time, I want to take AP Chem, but at the same time I want to take more electives… Ughhhhh there’s too many options
By the way, what does DP mean?
Just be aware that many med schools do not accept AP science credit to satisfy pre-med admissions requirements.
JJ637, it means double period. How much money are you paying to take classes in FLVS?
If you really want to take AP Bio and AP Chem, you can take both and not take AP physics 2
@Giovuhnni I live in florida, so all the FLVS classes are free
And yeah, that’s true… I’ll probably see if I’m interested or not in AP Physics 1, and then decide from there if I want to take 2 or not. Thanks!
