Hey everyone we are now finalizing our course selections for next year and just wanted to know some info about the courses I’m taking like the struggles you had, how many hours of homework you had, or any other helpful information.
Sophomore Schedule:
AP Computer Science
AP Spanish 4
AP World History
AP Chemistry
Honors Precalc
Honors English
Buisness Academy
Next year will be the first year I that I will have taken AP Classes. The classes I’m worried about is Computer Science and Precalc. Mostly Precalc because I’m taking Algebra 2/Trig this summer and don’t know if I will succeed in PreCalc. Any helpful tips is appreciated thanks.
Yeah, going from 0 to 4 APs is a huge leap in terms of time.
Like in everything, different teachers probably have a big part in how hard a class is and how much homework they give
For me, i have not very helpful teacher whos teaching AP Computer Science for the first year.
AP Computer Science wasnt that bad, there was usually no homeowrk because you had enough time to finish the assignment in class. Occasionally i would spend 30 min finishing up the homework at home.
As for Pre-calc, I did Pre-Calc during freshman year after skipping Algebra II
The teacher was really great and leaniant. He actually had this homework policy that all bookwork and notes were due at each quiz and test which made me procrastinate quite a bit. Theres usually around 45 min of homework per day, so its pretty manageable. I think youll be fine in Pre-Calc as taking Algebra II/Trig over the summer will help because of the amount of overlap. Really its just another math class, if you normally do well, you’d do well in Pre Calc too.
AP Spanish as a sophomore:
Are you planning on taking any more years of foreign language?
I agree with most, 0 to 4 is a lot. Have you talked to other students who took these courses?
What science class are you taking now? You could probably take the AP version of that. I, for example, am taking Honors Biology (9th) and AP Bio (10th).

Mine School doesnt allow me to do AP Biology without having taken a previous Chemistry course. I also talked to other students about AP Chemistry and World History. For Chemistry they told me the teacher is horrible and will make the test extremely difficult. For World History , the teacher went to visit us and she looks like a nice teacher, during her visit she said she would walk us through and make sure that we do good in her class and that she would prepare us for future AP courses. Now for AP Comp. Science, next year will be the first year it will have been offered. I talked to the teacher and he said he will teach it during 0 period and he will give a lot of homework.
