Hello! I just wanted to know how many courses per semester should I take. There are so many classes I want to explore... 5 would be perfect for me, but I don't know if it's too much. I'll probably attend Grinnell or Reed. What do you think?

Isn't 5 the normal course load? I'm taking 6 right now and I'm doing fine.

I don't know.. I'm not from the US. Here, 5-6 is the general rule... but I've seen a lot of people talking about four. And I think Reed's catalogue says that the average is 4.

it really depends on what classes you are taking.

I'm probably gona go for 4 during first term, just so I can have enough free tiem to get used to the campus, city etc Once I'm settled in I guess I'll move up to 5 -6

many schools set limits on how many credits their students can take per semester. generally, a regular course is worth 4 credits and thus for most schools you can take up to 4 regular courses and maybe a short 2-credit course. You may get a credit for participating in a varsity sport. If you take over the limit you may have to pay extra.

CP, most colleges actually use 3-unit courses as the standard per semester.
And yes, 15-16 units is usually fairly standard as many schools set the minimum number of semester units to graduate at or around 120 (15/semester * 8 semesters = 120) -- but, of course, this can all vary by school
