coursework question

I've already read the "coursework" thread as well as the "Read First" thread, and neither addresses this question. I got a 5 on the AP Bio exam, and my school will not let me retake Bio I and II. I can only take Bio III (the third and final part of the intro-bio sequence).

So....can I still take Bio III and some upper division Bio courses and still be a competitive applicant, or will skipping these intro-bio courses hurt my chances. I really want to retake those intro-bio classes, but my school says there's just no way possible.

Thanks.

The first sentence of the first post on the coursework thread:

bdm: "Core Requirements: 1 year of biology with lab (2 for Texas), 1 year genchem, 1 year organic, 1 year physics, 1 year English. Many schools also require a year of Math."

I don't see where it says you need 1 year of intro bio. You need 1 year of bio w/ lab so any upper div courses you plan to take must have a lab component.

Oh okay. That clears it up. I didn't realize that it meant any biology course. Thanks.

But the prereq's of many schools' advanced bio classes are the two intro bio's, so you can't skip them unless you have the AP credit.
