Hi!
I'm currently a freshman in high school and will be entering 10th grade in the fall. I'm homeschooled right now, but for various reasons will be at the public high school next year. I don't know if I'll stay here for the next 3 years, but I'm planning my course schedule as though I will be. I wanted to get some guidance about the amount of work I should take on. I don't want to get too overwhelmed. This is my course guide from this year (I did an accredited co-op for English, History, Study Skills, and New Testament Survey) :
Honors English 1
Honors US History
Physical Science
Algebra 2/Geometry
French 1
P.E.
Study Skills
New Testament Survey
Music Theory/ Piano
Nutrition and Welfare
Keyboarding
My extracurriculars were Track and Field, Piano, and Volunteering through my church.
I have an unweighted 3.98 GPA on a 4.0 scale
This is my course schedule for next year:
Honors English 2
AP European History
Honors Pre-cal
French 2
Yearbook
Speech
Computer Input and Technologies
My extracurriculars were going to be Track and Field in the spring three times a week at night, volunteering on the weekends, and swimming in the summer. In addition, yearbook counts as an extra with some out of school time. I was also planning on joining the Key Club (one morning every other week with additional weekend time) and the Model UN (twice a week for an hour, once before school and once after).
Does this sound like too much? I don't have a lot of direction and won't be able to speak to the guidance counselor until after applications for clubs are due.
Also, do you think I could be accepted into a selective University on this transcript (Georgetown University for example)?
Thanks for reading!

You should be fine, the schedule is demanding but not crazy(trust me, I know crazy), also I know your going to hate this(I do to), but until you get more test scores it is really hard to predict if you’ll have a good chance at the selective Universities. Also, your junior and senior years are extremely important to measure the rigor of your schedule, so that plays a tremendous role in University selection.
