As a result of Covid-19, my school district is transitioning to distance learning for the remainder of the school year and our Board of Education has decided to implement Credit/No Credit grading scale for the 2nd semester. (GPA will be locked in from 1st semester).
Do you think this change in grading scale on my final transcript will negatively affect my offer of admission for Fall 2020? (incoming freshman)
No. Many districts/schools across the nation are moving to pass/fail or credit/no credit. Unless you receive no credit for a class (I.e. failing) you shouldn’t worry.
I think this will not hurt anyone in terms of admission. Look at colleges…ND and Stanford, Ivy league schools all recognize distant learning is appropriate for their students. High schools of course should be doing the same. Don’t stress about that. Stay safe!
Even outside of private prestigious colleges, such as University of Michigan and Michigan State University, they too have switched to C/NC because of the pandemic. I believe it is being talked about currently for Michigan high schools to make the switch, however it is also going quite slow.
