CPA with a degree in econ?

Anyone know if it is possible to sit for the CPA exam with an undergraduate degree in economics? This is following the 150-hour rule, so I would plan on getting my masters in accounting, however, the exam requirement for California states:

A Bachelor's degree from a regionally or nationally accredited college or university with 24 semester units of Accounting and 24 semester units in business-related subjects.

I don't think the upper division econ courses are business-related at all and I know for sure there are no accounting courses. I know I've heard before that people with a degree in econ get their CPA license but I don't quite know how one would with this in the way. Any ideas?

Many Masters in Accounting programs have foundation classes that may prepare an Economics or History major to meet the state's CPA requirements. Check the state requirements for a definition of terms or specific courses and talk with your adviser.

Hm, but would you still be able to get your MAcc in a year while still taking those foundation classes?

No. It would take more time. For example, Northern Illinois requires person, who had not taken a single applicable class, to sit through 40 credit hours of introductory business and accounting classes. Half are classes you may have taken: stat, calc, acct principles, marketing, biz law, etc. The other half are advanced accounting classes. However, many of those classes are offered at the undergrad level and perhaps through summer programs. Check the requirements of the state and the prerequisites of the college program.

Econ courses are considered "business-related." See below:

Oh, sweet, thanks for that. Then lies the question of how I could fulfill the accounting requirement while I'm an undergrad. Does UCLA biz econ fulfill the accounting requirement? I hear it's basically an econ course with accounting minor. Is this true?

I'm actually having the same problem right now. I've gotten into Accounting, enjoying it more than I did 3 years ago and I'm doing an Accounting internship right now and I'm enjoying it. Too bad I've got a year left of school and graduating with a degree in Econ.
