I got into both for Electrical Engineering. Can’t decide where to go to. The social aspect of SDSU appears to be much better than Pomona, but the engineering program at Pomona seems much better. Also, how is it getting classes at SDSU? I have heard that it is very difficult to obtain classes at Pomona…

Got into UCSC too, but the price of going there keeps me from attending…

Pros and cons of each school?

Hey, i applied to both and got into Pomona for Civil Engineering. I made some research about those two schools and that’s what I have:

San Diego State:
- It is getting hard to get classes nowadays. There’s so many people attending SDSU now.
- Not well-ranked for engineering at all, its like in the bottom.
- PARTY SCHOOL. It’s fun there… maybe too much?
- Great location.

Cal Poly Pomona:
- Great for Engineering majors. Easy internships.
- Yes, hard to get classes but only your GE’s. I heard that your core classes (EE) will be easier to get because you’re in engineering.
- Commuter School, dead during the weekends.
- Need a car to get around…

UCSC:
I rather go to San Jose State for engineering… just saying.

It doesn’t matter where you go for undergrads. Grad school is way more important. I chose Cal Poly Pomona because it’s a little closer to SF than SDSU is, and I heard it’s better for engineering. Just go where you will feel and learn better. GOOD LUCK.

CPP for engineering. San Diego State for the arts and social sciences.
