So I got an email telling me that 'You have been identified by the Admissions Office as a student who we would like to sponsor for a free trip to Campus Preview Weekend (CPW) at MIT! CPW is a chance for the admitted students of the Class of 2013 to experience what MIT is all about, live and in person the campus, culture, and community. If you havent already done so, you should book your ticket by April 2nd"

Did anyone else get this, and what are your opinions on the valuability of going to CPW?

Got one too. Read the threads on CPW and make a decision for yourself. There are also quite a few blog posts from last year on the MIT website from '12ers who attended CPW (and loved it).

i don't know if mit is your number one or if you are still deciding, but either way, it is a great way to really get immersed in the mit environment and culture. great way to meet people, visit classes, get information, etc. and if it is free, you should definitely go.

I also got one. I think you should definitely go if you can, even if you're already pretty much decided on MIT. It's supposed to be really fun, and you can only do it as a prefrosh once, right?

I think about 2/3 of admitted students attend CPW, and the numbers increase every year. It's incredibly valuable to see what MIT is like on an actual weekend during term, to see the number of extracurriculars and the variety of classes available, and to meet other admitted students.

I didn't go to CPW, and I still happily chose MIT and spent four years there, but I think getting a free trip to CPW makes it kind of a no-brainer.

MIT didn’t give me a grant. Wash U did, however. I will probably choose MIT in the end but would hate to turn down a free trip to Wash U. Who knows, maybe I’ll surprise myself.
