CPW hacks

What was the deal with CalTech coming to CPW to mess with the MIT pre-frosh? Did CalTech have a particlarly low applicant-rate this year and was it trying hard to get a higher yield? I mean, it seems like a strange amount of effort to fly around the country just to mess around with pre-frosh. Oh and btw, if there are any CIT ppl here -- I'm going to burn that shirt!!!

heh, I managed to not acquire one of those shirts ;)

I think it was to entice some friendly competition. I wasn't overly impressed, though it was a nice spectacle.

i kind of thought it was funny :) i was really, really wanting to see hacks while i was there... seriously, major reason why i like MIT's culture (caltech shares some of the culture too... the hack culture). i really find it unique/amusing/fantasic.

Those techers said that "pranks are a necessary part of our lives, to ease the tension and escape the rigors of our coursework".... (or something to that effect). They also said that they wanted to "join hands with MIT and create a sort of mixed hack/prank culture"...

I dont think they were luring prospective students :p

i guess that was fun. and it's very interesting to find out what hacks MIT prepared for the caltech... did you visit http://hacks.mit.edu ?

yeah at MIT they sell CALTECH shirts that say cuz everyone cant get into MIT. i bought one last week. hehe
