I am an admitted student planning on heading up to CPW. I've been checking out the extremely full schedule and am trying to pick out which events I would (tentatively) like to attend. I am mainly looking into social events advice, as I know which academic ones I would like to attend. I enjoy partying and larger events over smaller, quieter ones and also have an interest in the Greek system. I also love food and most sports, though sporting events are not a priority of mine at CPW.

So, based off of this, do any current students or alums of MIT have any suggestions as to which are the "best" events? (If possible, when making suggestions, can you elaborate why the event is awesome)

Also, more specifically, can anyone tell me about the 10 fraternity parties on Saturday at 10 PM? They are hosted by Delta Kappa Epsilon, Kappa Sigma, Sigma Chi, Phi Sigma Kappa, Phi Delta Theta, Chi Phi, Lambda Chi Alpha, Theta Chi, Alpha Epsilon Pi, and Zeta Beta Tau. Obviously, with 10 to choose from, I may end up picking randomly or when the time comes, but any information about these fraternities, parties, etc. is really appreciated.

Those would all be great parties to go to. You may want to consider stopping by more than one party just to see different houses and brothers. In that case, there are a few of these frats that are very close to each other. DKE and KS are both on-campus, just a minute walk away from each other. Chi Phi and and Sigma Chi are across the river but fairly close, maybe 5-6 minute’s walk. LCA and Phi Delts are actually next door neighbors.

There’s a huge variation between fraternities. You will want to try to visit more than one (which should not be hard, as many are close together). You will probably find a house you do not like at all, and possibly one you like a lot. The same thing curiously holds true about the dorms.

Mikalye is definitely on to something there. I guess if I had to pick the most important cpw events for you to attend, it would be dorm events. It would be really great for you to get a good sense of where you might want to live now as opposed to waiting until REX because the readjustment lottery doesn’t always work out (cough like for me cough). These may not be the “best” events, but even if you just drop by to a cookout for lunch and talk to a few people there, I thinks thats really beneficial.

You should come to CPW, I’m sure you’ll hear about it from someone. And if anyone gives you any more specific information than I did, you should let me know so I can yell at them for being indiscreet.
