Cpw

Well it doesn't usually snow in April, though April snowstorms are infamous here.

On the other hand, a few years ago I was doing a training session around May 20th at a Girl Scout Camp (as in, cabins with no windows/heat/etc.) and it snowed. We were all very angry.

hmm can any previous mit students tell me how busy u were during cpw (as a prefrosh student)? Looking at the schedule, it seems pretty packed; yet i kno we are also free to attend whatever we wish (most of the time). I just wondered how busy/intense the experience was for most ppl at the last cpw's.

I'm asking this because I'm wondering if I'll have enough time to catch up with old buddies in Boston without sacrificing great events/classes at MIT's CPW. =] (they go to harvard and Boston College) I'm considering the option of paying a bit more to change my flight ticket to stay a few more days at Boston...

will i need to bring a coat for CPW?

Only if you want to be warm. Check the 10-day forecast.

People in the know,

There are so many things to do at CPW, are there certain activities that you would consider "don't miss" events? I am trying to wade through all of the events and there are too many fun activities! Suggestions from "people in the know" about what things pre-frosh should see would be greatly appreciated!

P.S. Can't wait to see everyone in a couple of days!

Thursday
Student Welcome, 8:30 PM. Because I'm going to be there.

Friday
Academic Fair, Athletics Fair, Arts Fair, 2-4 PM. Pick up free stuff and talk to people in your intended department, talk to people playing your sport (or shop around for a team to join, even if you didn't play anything in high school), and talk to people performing your art. All the fairs are next to each other, so you can go to all three.
Meet the Bloggers party, 8:30-10 PM. Again, because I'm going to be there.
Various frat parties, all night. Self-explanatory. ;)

Saturday
Premed panel, 11:30 AM-12:30 PM. I know there are a lot of premed hopefuls on this board.
Activities fair, 1-3 PM. You will probably be overwhelmed by the number of activities you can join. Free stuff here too.
Dorm tours, 1-5 PM. Make a point to check out at least four or five dorms you could see yourself getting psyched about.
A capella concert, 5:30-8 PM. The MIT a capella groups are super, and this is one of the few times you can see them without groveling for tickets.
