So I took a practice test and got all the sentence completions correct except 1. My vocab is pretty broad and I am able to easily tear a word apart, but should I still memorize words. However I missed 24 passage based questions and got 24 right. This is beyond bad. How can I increase my passage based score? That is always difficult because the answer is difficult to cultivate. Please help me. I have a 700 but cr is a 530... (pitiful). And also writing; what strategies did you use to boost your score? I usually ace essays (10-12) but fail on the corrections. Thanks my writig score is 570.

In writing I mostly miss “identifying sentence errors”

Sentence errors have a few predictable varieties: lack of agreement, wrong verb tense, dangling participles, improper use of idioms, etc. For CR, try playing Devil’s Advocate; that way, you can find out which choices are wrong. I’ll PM you a source I found that I think is helpful for both of your problem areas.

Try ivy insiders

Thanks guys! If I get into Emory I owe you guys! And where can I find Ivy insiders?

^
It’s the 1st result on google

The potential to understand written passages is probably something that you are born with and supplemented by a life time of reading difficult passages. There is no way to significantly improve it in a time horizon that would be of any value to you.

If you got a 700 in Math, be thankful you were born with a very good aptitude for math, major in something like engineering, and do not waste your time looking for ways to beat the passages section of CR, it can not be done.
