i'm prepping for next year's psat and sat... and i was wondering... do you guys read the reading comprehension questions first then read the passage, read the passage then answer the questions, or read the questions then read enough to answer the question?

could someone give me some good CR advice, please?
thanks in advance!

Well, I read the whole passage first and try to grasp the Main Idea, Structure, and Theme. Then, I answer the reference questions and followed by the general questions.

Make sure the answer you pick is supported and can be found in the passage.

I've been scoring in the mid 700s with this strategy.

DISCLAIMER: everyone has there own way and one strategy doesn't always work for everyone. Try your luck on some strategies and see which works best for you.

^ I use the same method. I find that if I try to read only part of a passage and then answer the question related to it, I lose my concentration and it breaks up the flow of the passage comprehension.

And I always read only part of the passage and then answer the question related to it! So there's lots of different ways. Like it was said, you should try a strategy and if it doesn't work, keep changing it until it does. Sometimes it's not about how you read the passage but the content itself that's difficult.

^true. I actually started by doing the read part-answer some questions method and found i was getting many questions wrong. After i switched to reading the whole passage first then answering questions, i was getting much higher scores. Definitely try different methods to see what works best for you, and once you find one, just keep practicing, because that's what will help you boost your CR score in the end. good luck!

thanks everyone, i'll try to practice using several methods, as suggested.
