CR, M, and Writing curves?

I know its usually different each test, but what are the general curves?

Look in the blue book for ranges.

I don't have the book, yet. I ordered it online. So the curves are on the book?

Yes, but they are ranges(i.e. it says raw score 53 in math is 750-800).

Does anyone have a conversion that is more realistic than that in the BB? I doubt you can miss 8 questions and get a 650-800.

alt.computer.ner: The ranges are realistic, in fact I believe the college board uses them on their own tests(obviously choosing a score within the range for each raw score; I have no proof of this, but it's just a guess). Missing up to 4 questions on the CR section, you can still get an 800; there are some really tough tests TCB makes. Obviously, if you're taking an easy test, four questions wrong will likely net you a 700-750, but the ranges are very realistic, in my opinion. My complaint is that they aren't precise and tailored for each test(a 70 point range is a bit much to judge yourself on), but that's why there's QAS :).

Looking at PR 11 Tests book, they look like they have a more narrow ~40 point difference as opposed to the 100 point difference of the BB. I suppose I can just use that until I get to the QAS I have stocked up on.

oh so we can get like 4 wrong on cr and get 800? Can the curve ever be that good?

I'd highly doubt it.

The best curve for CR will probably be 2 wrong = 800
4 wrong would probably by around 760

3 blank/2 wrong is an 800 on most test's.

I got three wrong on last December's test and somehow managed to get an 800.

The scale in the CB book is pretty accurate. In fact, for comparison purposes, just use the middle number in the range. The range does tend to get a little sketchy at the top, and the scores depend on the section (the math curve is steeper) and the particular test. Missing 3 on the math, for example, usually bumps you down to the mid 700s.

Jason412, on which section did you miss 3 and leave 2 blank?

For blue book:
math curve - accurate
reading curve - choosing the middle score is usually 10-20 pts harsher than real curve
writing curve - middle score usually 10-40 pts more lenient than real curve

PeteSAT sorry for the ambiguous response. I meant 3 blank OR 2 wrong on a CR section is usually an 800.

In my experience...800 CR is 1 to 2 wrong, 800 M in all correct (I'm extrapolating...on one test, I got 1 wrong and received a 780, on the next test I got 2 wrong and got a 770, so I'm guessing that 1 wrong would have been 790). Writing is a little more complicated, and I never got particularly close to an 800, but generally, 4 wrong + 10 essay = 710 WR. I noticed that the Blue Book score ranges were too lenient for WR.

Also, I never omitted a question. So I have no clue how that affects scoring.
