Also, guys, sorry but I need help on CR passage. I got the first one wrong and skipped the second one.

http://img535.imageshack.us/img535/8...20430at826.png

for 8. I bubbled C because I thought they used the term to show inspiration for rundown imaginations. The correct answer is B
For 9. I skipped. The answer is D. Dunno how to even think how to solve this question

Says the image doesn’t exist.

For 8 only B and E are possible. A, C and D are not supported by anything the author states. B (phrase) and E (expression) clearly refer to the “lost city”. The phrase is not complex, nor does the author state that it is. It does elicit notion of a “magical elixir” (e.g. eternal life), surely captivating.

For 9 D (at least with the part of the passage that you’ve provided) cannot be right. No where in the passage is there mention of a chamber, or temple, or religious function. E is a statement of fact – there is no evidence in the lost city of the people who inhabited it. A, B and C are not supported by anything the author says.

OHH! For 8 I thought they were referring to “romanticism of … at the time”.

For 9. The answer is D. I tripled check. Promise. And that is the entire passage (it’s one of the short passages)

9 It says analogous, so yes, D. would be right.

Machu Picchu has been found and yet the purpose of it is unexplainable.
D. captures both the place found and that the function, or purpose, of it is not yet known.

8 B. is the answer because the words “magical elixir” “evoked the romanticism” of so-and-so and were used for “rundown imaginations”, thus giving “lost city”, primarily, a captivating power over the thing(s) it was used for.

Number 8 is pretty straightforward. As fog city pointed out, we can immediately eliminate A, C, and D. Alas, E is not supported by the passage. The answer must be B.

I remember actually thinking about number 9 a while ago. It was a good question.

Consider the last sentence:
“The imposing architecture attested to the skill of the Incas. But who had lived in this isolated site and for what reason?”

Translation: Though this place is super great, what is its purpose?
Upon further consideration we find that (D) is the only choice which is similar.
