CR Reading comprehension problem

In all honesty i must say CR is my worst section. The reason why it's so difficult for me is i can't read the passages. Yes I'm sure i can read college level but the problem is I'm a really picky reader. I can't focus for too long and those 800 word passages just kill me. The thing if my mind wonders and half of the time the passages make me sleepy. With that being said I'm a slow reader and the whole time i'm reading the passage i feel like i'm being RUSHED!!

I know this has probably been ask before, I seriously...how can i stay focus?!?!! How can I learn to pace myself without rushing myself?!?!

Please help me. Thanks in advance CC.

I had much the same problems as you. All I did was force myself to focus. You just have to tell yourself that what you do now could decide much of the rest of your life (4 years at least). When I did this, I, too, felt like I was rushing myself, but that's what I wanted to do--rush. I'm generally a very slow reader, but I found that when I was completely focused, I got done with each CR section 10 minutes early. I got an 800 (with none wrong).

I used to be like that too, on ALL reading assignments. But I developed speed reading in which you skim through certain phrases of a sentence and you visualize instead of memorize. What also helps is rephrasing each clause that you read in simpler terms.

Wow that's amazing... 800 in CR! I wish I could do that ^^

make educated guesses.

MstrLinks,

Had the same problem, and not advocating this for everyone, but read about attention deficit and what happens to the brain when forced to concentrate, saw some interesting brain scans, that actually show some people actually have brains that get much less active when they have to concentrate. What made a huge difference was drinking a cup of coffee before, and no not on a daily basis cause your body builds up a tolerance to it, just for the time you need to focus.
