CR Score

Is a score of 620 on the CR too low for Stanford. Will a score of 720 in the writing help??

Please reply.

well, this might interest u.....

Well, 30 percent of first-year freshmen have <700 on the CR. So obviously kids are admitted with that sort of score, although keep in mind that a lot of them will have 'hooks' or extreme distinguishing factors on their applications, and be athletes/URMs/whatnot.

Yes, 620 is probably too low for Stanford. I was deferred with an 800 CR, perfect grades, and a hook, just to give you a taste.

At least you were deferred! From what I heard, the 'default' SCEA decision this year was reject -- very few deferrals.

Scores aren't everything. Don't be discouraged and apply anyways. It's not "too low" for Stanford and plus, if you don't apply you can't get in.

I did NOT have perfect scores on my SAT, but I still got in. 720 in writing is good, but I'm still unsure of the weight it currently has in the SAT scale. From what I can tell, yes 620 is a low score, and if you have a chance, you should probably retake it. But if you have something that catches their eyes, the 620 could potentially be overlooked. It is not in your favor, but it doesn't seem to be a COMPLETE deal breaker.

well, though i am an international 620 in CR was low even by my standards. i retook the test in january and i am hoping >720 this time, but stanford seems reluctant to receive the scores from january.. my hooks are my ecs, but people say that stanford doesnt look at them seriously enough.. so i seem to have none.

620 is not too low. I got in with a 630.

marchballer, were you an international??
