Cracking Down on Web Socializing -Facebook, Myspace article

Some of you may be aware that a student at a top university was arrested last week for allegedly selling drugs. According to an article in the campus daily, the student was "busted" based on information overheard by police who had "wired" another student. The informant allegedly was approached by the police when she ended up in the hospital from a bad reaction to cocaine which he allegedly sold her.

The informant is not named in the article. However, the campus paper has a "comments" section. The informant was allegedly dumb enough to mention the incident in her facebook listing. Someone created a "mirror" of the listing, so anyone can read it. I am not tech savvy enough to know if it's legit, but it sure looks it. Thus, while the campus daily doesn't name the informant, anyone who reads the comments following the article will see the link to the facebook entry of the alleged informant. It includes not only her name, but the sorority she belongs to, her boyfriend's name, etc. I doubt that this is the kind of information she wants publicly available if she was in fact the informant.

The fact that she used cocaine is now out there, too, of course.
