Cranbrook Kingswood in Bloomfield, MI. I finished my application to there in mid-january. I haven't found a date that they would release thier decisions. Anyone hear or recieve anything from them yet? How thier academics, admission, boarding/day school life?

When I lived in the Detroit area (probably north of you from your location description) a number of years ago, I remember Cranbrook to be an excellent school academically. It has a large day-student population and many of the boarders go home on weekends, but it sounds like you don't live too far away and might go home a few weekends yourself.

I can't help you with their admissions policies, though.

Have you looked on their website?

I applied to Greenhills, which isn't that far from Cranbrook. Have you heard of it?

Ya, i checked thier website for cranbrook and also called them this afternoon....noone awnsered....ill call tommorow again.

Ive applied thier as a 5 day boarder because i live kinda in windsor.

I talked to my parents about greenhills earlier this year but they said a hour commute is wayyyyy to long.

I'd agree that the commute is too long - especially with daily border crossings and the stupid stuff that can happen with the security levels are raised from time to time.

With where you live, I can see why you are looking at Cranbrook. It is a good mix of having the boarding experience and being close enough to home to enjoy some family time frequently.

Let us know what happens.

I just found out that Cranbrook has rolling admissions, so if I don't get into Greenhills I could probably apply there.

It's a great school, good luck!

followup---yay...i got accepted...even though i didnt get into andover or hotchkiss, my list of schools as of right now looks quite swell

Congratulations! It's good that you had a balanced list of schools so now you have choices.

I am certainly biased xcyuen as I had children go to CK through middle school but my family chose it over the top day and boarding schools in new England and we were not disappointed. You should be very proud to be offered admission to Cranbrook next year. Cranbrook is considered by many to be the most academically rigorous school in the midwestern United States (sorry Detroit Country Day). Congratulations on your acceptance. I transferred with my job or my kids would still have gone there for upper school. They both are thriving at AESD schools (top 10% of class, sports etc) thanks in large part to C/K's excellent preparation. You will be very prepared for college and have alot of fun at CK. If you have any questions PM me.
